Blog writing can be tough sometimes. I'm not looking to have a pity party or anything, but talking about the same sports all the time gets to be somewhat boring. I know there's more to life than whether or not my Rams pick up a big-time wide receiver in free agency. Kevin, if you're reading this - can I please have a 6'4 receiver with 4.3 speed and great hands? I promise I won't ask for anything else until next year. Sorry - got carried away there. Anyway, the rest of the world doesn't live on first downs alone. Enter Sepak Takraw. Yeah, say that three times really fast. Sepak Takraw roughly translated means kickball, but not the kind you and I play at family reunions. It's a very popular sport in Asia and combines soccer and volleyball. Picture volleyball with bicycle kicks and you're halfway there. Better yet, have a look at the video from a game below (email subscribers click here).
Sepak Takraw hasn't really taken off in the U.S. just yet. We're still focused on regular soccer. Speaking of soccer - make sure you register for the 2011 Coach It Right! Soccer Clinic today. Every coach who attends will receive their "F" coaching license from the Missouri Youth Soccer Association free of charge. The "F" licensure certifies you to coach 5-11 year-olds in the state of Missouri. On your own, you'd pay $40. Click on the following link for the Coach It Right! Soccer Clinic and join us for free this Tuesday, August 2 at 6 p.m. inside St. Rose Philippine Duchesne School in Florissant. Well, I'm going to practice my Sepak Takraw. Until next time...
