Like many of you, I stayed home with family for the holidays. Others had the opportunity to travel. The Mississippi State men's basketball team had a very generous holiday travel schedule. They played in a tournament in the Bahamas, then traveled to Hawaii for another. They will finish with a game in Las Vegas before heading home. Not bad, huh? Hawaii is where trouble struck. Mississippi State players were sitting in the stands on Friday prior to the Utah-Hawaii game. It's customary for teams to scout potential opponents between games. Teammates Elgin Bailey and Renardo Sidney were seated in the same row. Bailey was seated closer to the aisle and Sidney was trying to get by. According to witnesses, Bailey would not move his legs. The video below shows what happened next (Email subscribers click here).
The instances of poor sportsmanship seem to be more and more ridiculous. That's all the more reason for us to be more vigilant in teaching good sportsmanship.
